Instagram announced today that it now stands at more than 150 million users mark. The number means that Instagram has grown to a community of over hundred and fifty million people capturing and sharing moments every month, of which the fifty million have joined in the last six months.
Moreover the company also told The Wall Street Journal that it is soon going to begin monetizing service with ads “within the next year.” The company’s director of business operations, Emily White share that the service should be ready to begin selling ads within the next year.
Also, as of now there are no words on what would be the ads on Instagram would look like, but Journal notes that the service could possibly opt for placing the ads in the app’s Discover page and search feature.
