The Verge and Gizmodo is reporting (via FCW) that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has signed a cloud computing deal with Amazon, worth of $600 million for the next ten years in which Amazon will reportedly build a private cloud for CIA.

FCW citing sources revealed that Amazon will build a private cloud infrastructure for the CIA which will help the agency to “keep up with emerging technologies” and that all in “a cost-effective manner not possible under the CIA’s previous cloud efforts.”

On asking about the deal by FCW, both Amazon officials as well as CIA spokesperson decline to put any light on the matter although CIA spokesperson do told FCW that “As a general rule, the CIA does not publicly disclose details of our contracts, the identities of our contractors, the contract values, or the scope of work.”
