According to both Alex Howard and First Post, Twitter has been rolling out features that allow users to download all of their past tweets. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo said that the new feature would be arriving by the end of the year. A report from Reuters says that Costolo also defended the company’s recent API changes saying that the company had realized other companies were making money off the service without adding “accretive value.”

Twitter’s two biggest alternatives, Facebook and Google+ both allow users to download some of their information, so now bringing the feature to micro-blogging site will definitely help the company to take a step further. Costolo first mentioned the feature last July to the New York Times and now finally, the time has come.
