If you are into the domain business or if you having the huge love for domain names, then you would definitely love to hear this that VeriSign today announced – as per the Domain Name Industry Brief – that over six million domain names were added to the Internet in the fourth quarter of 2012, bringing the total registered domain names counting to more than 252 million globally across all top-level domains (TLDs) as of December 31, 2012.

The increase of 6.1 million domain names counted as a growth rate of 2.5 percent over the third quarter of 2012, while the .com and .net TLDs tops the list in growth terms in the quarter, combining countable to approximately 121.1 million domain names, representing a 6.4 percent increase year over year. On the other end, the new .com and .net registrations totaled 8.0 million during the fourth quarter of 2012, while a year ago same quarter, the new .com and .net registrations totaled 7.9 million.
