Huawei Files EU Antitrust Complaint Against InterDigital

Huawei last week called for EU antitrust regulators to intervene in a dispute with InterDigital, stating that the US-based company is demanding huge “exploitative” fees to use its 3G mobile phone patents. The company has filed an anti-trust complaint with the European Commission against US-based InterDigital in which it urges the Commission to intervene to end InterDigital’s abuses of its patents allegedly essential to the 3G (UMTS) standard.

Huawei tried to negotiate with InterDigital in order to reach an agreement on licensing fees for mobile devices but with the filing of anti-trust complaint it is clear now that no solution has been reached by the companies.
