Facebook Pushes Its Own @facebook.com Email Address In Contact Info, Hiding Originals

Facebook again seems to be pushing hard for all its users to check out the email addresses it has offered: the one @facebook.com (hope now you remember that). What surprised probably most of you here is that in your social giant profile page, you will found only contact email address and that of Facebook-owned i.e. @facebook.com email address.

Facebook commented, via email (to The Verge):

As we announced back in April, we’ve been updating addresses on Facebook to make them consistent across our site. In addition to everyone receiving an address, we’re also rolling out a new setting that gives people the choice to decide which addresses they want to show on their timelines.

Ever since the launch of timeline, people have had the ability to control what posts they want to show or hide on their own timelines, and today we’re extending that to other information they post, starting with the Facebook address.

The Verge while talking on phone with Facebook spokesperson Meredith Chin told that “We want everybody to use whichever service they want to use,” the changes to visibility on profile are only in order to put everybody on the same page once individual email show/hide toggles were recently instated.

Well, these are discussion things that what the company really wants to do, but if you want to re-enable showing your other email addresses, all you have to do is by clicking “Edit” within the “About” section of your Facebook Timeline.
