HTC: ‘No Plans’ For Low-Priced Smartphone Market

In order to keep more focus and balance brand image, shipment growth and profit margins Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Chief Executive Peter Chou said that the company does not having any plans to enter the low-priced market right now. “We don’t want to destroy our brand image,” Mr. Chou said.

HTC a week ago announced unaudited consolidated revenue for May 2012 of NT $30 billion (about $1 billion) and total unaudited consolidated revenue from January to May 2012 is NT $128.8 billion (about $4 billion). HTC has also revised the 2Q 2012 guidance to be NT$91 billion (about $3.05 billion) in revenue, 27% in gross margin, and 9% in operating margin.
