China which is known as most populous nation in the world has now seen named as the first country in the world to reach one billion mobile phone subscribers base mark. The number of mobile phone subscribers in China by late February had reached 997 million, and was expected to top one billion by month’s end, according to the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Seeing the revenue side, in January 2012, mobile communications revenue totaled 58.87 billion yuan (about $9.3 billion), up 18.2 percent over the same period last year, the proportion in the telecom business revenue rose to 72.12 percent from 68.41 percent in the same period last year; fixed communication revenues totaled $ 227.6 billion, down 1.0 percent over the same period last year, the proportion of the main telecom business revenue dropped to 27.88 percent from 31.59 percent a year earlier.
