Google’s VP for Sales in the Americas through blog post claimed today that the company contributed $80 billion to the US economy during the year 2011. Google’s standalone Economic Impact site puts up the picture in detailed way, providing state-by-state map of the US, popping the company’s impact on local industries. The map claimed that “In 2011, Google’s search and advertising tools helped provide $80 billion of economic activity for 1.8 million businesses, website publishers and non-profits across the U.S.” Further, on the official Google blog, Margo Georgiadis emphasizes that the impact is not only on the e-commerce sector but also on “main street retail.”
