Google Announces 3D Models Of Metropolitan Areas On Mobile In Google Earth, Brings Offline Maps To Android Phones

While Google has announced that its car had driven over 5 million unique miles, results in gathering around 20 petabytes of Google Street View data, means allowing Streetview to cover 39 countries and 3,000 cities. Google also offering turn-by-turn directions in 187 countries with 26 miles of driving directions mapped out.

The company had made several other announcements:

  • It will feature 3D models of entire metropolitan areas on mobile devices in Google Earth
  • It is bringing offline maps to Android phones. This should allow you to navigate by pre-loading maps to mobile devices.
