After the rocking up and down IPO starting, TPM reports that Facebook has quietly been testing a new look for user profiles or “Timeline” feature. Whereas, CNET also got the confirmation in an email statement: “We can confirm this is a small test, but don’t have anything further to share at this time.”
Facebook Timeline New
The new look moves the user’s name, home location, occupation, education, and other basic information into a layer of text atop the “cover photo.” The text has been changed to white to stand out against the dark colors of a user’s cover photo.

The new view also adds a “Summary” tab to the profile. When clicked, the tab shows a list of the user’s major “Life Events” of the user. Other changes include turning “Likes” into “Favorites,” and condensing the current tabs — “Friends,” “Photos,” “Map,” and new “Favorites” — into a smaller space just below the cover photo.
