The social giant today announced the launch of Verified Pages and Profiles in order to help people to find the authentic accounts of celebrities and other high-profile people and businesses on Facebook. One can have a check on whether the page is a verified page / profile or not by checking a small blue check mark besides their name on timelines, in search results as well as elsewhere on Facebook.
The company stated that although Verified Pages belong to a small group of prominent public figures with large audiences. This update is rolling out to profiles as well. Facebook proactively verifies authentic Pages and profiles, but in case if you believe that you’re being impersonated you can always report a fake account.
