comScore: Top Smartphone OEMs December 2012

According to the latest data from the comScore reporting key trends in the US smartphone industry during the three months average period ending December 2012 with Apple top the chart ranked as top smartphone manufacturer with 36.3 percent share, while Google Android spot on the no. 1 smartphone platform with 53.4 percent share.

During the three months ending December, 125.9 million people in the US owned smartphone, up 5 percent since September. Apple topped the OEM chart with 36.3 percent of US smartphone subscribers, up 2 percentage points from September. Samsung ranked second with 21 percent market share (up 2.3 percentage points), followed by HTC with 10.2 percent share, Motorola with 9.1 percent and LG with 7.1 percent (up 0.5 percentage points).

Talking about mobile platform market share, Google Android ranked as the top smartphone platform with 53.4 percent market share, up 0.9 percentage points, while Apple’s share increased 2 percentage points to 36.3 percent. BlackBerry ranked third with 6.4 percent share, followed by Microsoft with 2.9 percent and Symbian 0.6 percent.
