Xiaomi Sells 50,000 Smartphones In Mere 5 Minutes On Sina Weibo, Seems New Social Strategy Works Pretty Well

We reported earlier this week that Chinese smartphone maker company, Xiaomi joined hands with Sina Weibo in a bid of experimenting a new strategy of selling its handsets directly on Weibo, and what’s interesting is that the company succeeded in the experiment.

The first batch of 50,000 Mi2 smartphones sold out in a mere 5 minutes and 14 seconds’ time.  Even more, the sale received a total of 810,000 comments, a total of 1.3 million reservations while 2.33 million forwards on Weibo. The first 50,000 in order to claim their new device, they have to make the payment in the 24 hours times, and the phone will be shipped to them within two days.
