Walmart on Thursday announced that it will start selling the new Apple iPad at 12:01am local time tonight. The retailer warned that it will have a “limited supply” of the new iPads, so it’s likely best to get there early or call ahead to make sure the tablet is in stock. Walmart said its early morning opening will let consumers “get to work on time and beat the rush by coming to Walmart.”
The version was not specified by the retailer although quantities will be limited. The 16GB iPad 2 will be on sale, though, starting at $399 for the Wi-Fi version. A Target spokeswoman, however, also said shoppers with a working iPad 2 can trade in the device and receive up to $350 in Target store credit for a 64GB 3G+Wi-Fi version, and up to $200 for trading in the same version of the first-gen iPad.
