The micro-blogging giant who yesterday started flying with its new “Twitter Bird” logo, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo stated that the company has generated more advertising revenue from its mobile platform than from its website in many number of days in the last quarter.

While speaking at a recent conference hosted by The Economist Group in San Francisco, he made his remarks over the newly public Facebook saying that it has to face intense pressure in order to improve its business performance on mobile.

“We’re borne of mobile,” Costolo said in response to a moderator’s question about the difference between Facebook and Twitter. “We have an ad platform that already is inherently suited to mobile, even though we launched our platform on the Web and only started running ads on mobile recently.”

Twitter now has 140 million monthly active users who are producing 400 million tweets daily. Back in February, the company introduced ads into smartphone users’ timeline. Even, it is expected that the micro—blogging giant will generate $1 billion in revenue by 2014.
