Time To Say Good Bye: Yahoo Ending Support For Seven Of Its Services Including BlackBerry App, Avatars, App Search

With working towards making the company a huge success somewhere in the near future, Yahoo today announced that it is shutting down some of its products including BlackBerry app, Clues, app search, Sports IQ, Message Boards, and its Updates API next month. Except the Updates API all the other six products will be shut down on April 1 while Yahoo will say good bye to the Updates API two weeks later on April 16.

The breakdown as follows:

  • Yahoo Avatars: Effective April 1, 2013 there will be no support available for Yahoo Avatars although if you want to keep your existing avatar you can keep it.
  • Yahoo app for BlackBerry: Effective April 1, 2013, the Yahoo app for BlackBerry will no longer be available for download. Those who already have the app downloaded with them, they can use it although there will be no back support from Yahoo.
  • Yahoo Clues (beta): Effective April 1, 2013, Yahoo Clues (beta) will shut down.
  • Yahoo App Search: Effective April 1, 2013, Yahoo! App Search will shut down.
  • Yahoo Sports IQ: Effective April 1, 2013, Yahoo! Sports IQ will shut down.
  • Yahoo Message Boards website: Effective April 1, 2013, the Yahoo! Message Boards website will shut down although the message board on Yahoo Finance and Yahoo Fantasy Sports will remain active.
  • Yahoo Updates API: As of April 16, 2013, the company will no longer support the Yahoo Updates API.
