Ideas

Creating and launching an innovative startup is hard work on the best of days. And once you’ve launched, sadly it’s no longer a case of ‘build it and they will come’. You have to work to get the word out about your startup and how you’re going to change things.

A great way to get this exposure is to contact blogs that focus on covering startups. Search for ‘Submit Your Startup’ and you’ll discover a ton of blogs that want to hear from people just like you. However, just submitting your info sadly isn’t enough. These three tips will help you get more coverage:

Be Unique

Now I’m not talking about your product or service, I’m talking about the description that you provide when submitting your startup. The quality sites will search for the description you’ve provided them with and if it has been used before, they simply won’t cover you.

Consider Paid Upgrades

As you can imagine, startup blog sites get a ton of submissions. And many of them have an option for you to pay a fee to jump the review queue. If it’s a quality site and you have the budget, consider the paid upgrade.

Follow Up

Some sites can take several weeks to review your submission. If after 4-6 weeks they haven’t reviewed your startup, email them. Kindly ask if they could take a look at your unique submission and if they don’t think it’s suitable for posting, ask for feedback.
