Study: Google’s Android And Apple’s iOS Combines Tops The Global Smartphone Sales In 2012

In the latest report from Strategic Analytics forecasting global smartphone sales, by 11 operating systems, for 88 countries worldwide, from 2007 to 2017, Google Android and Apple iOS combines together and covers the vast majority of all global smartphone sales in 2012, while there is a huge decline in sales of Symbian and BlackBerry. Talking about future, the first predicted that even in 2017, Android and iOS will remain dominant smartphone platforms, but what will be in vain is their combined share while will declined.

The decline will help Microsoft for sure, although Windows Phone currently are growing with slow pace, covering currently only 4% of US smartphone sales in 2012. The platforms like Tizen and Firefox OS will grow in popularity as the benefits of HTML5-based ‘cloud phones’ become more apparent.
