Sony today reported net profits of $458 million (43 billion yen) for its 2012 financial year, returning to positive for the first time in five years. The earnings numbers come ahead of company’s prediction of $404 million (40 billion yen), while operating profit for the year was $2.45 billion (230.1 billion yen). While among all, the most profitable divisions were its movie business, which results in $7.8 billion ($732.7 billion yen) in operating income while its financial service division hit high with $1.55 billion (145.8 billion yen). The result clearly indicates the first move towards company’s CEO Kazuo Hirai promises to bring the company back to where it stands.
