Skype Sees 47 Percent Growth Since Microsoft Acquisition, Says Tony Bates

During on stage at AllThingsD D10 conference, Tony Bates, president of Skype, and was Skype CEO before it was acquired by Microsoft in 2011 May, brings the real figures of Skype, says that users of the service are up to 250 million since from the acquisition, a 47 percent growth in just a year time.

Bates also spoke about Windows Phone, says, “When I think about phones I think more about communication, and I want to be able to move from text, to voice, to video, and I don’t think that’s well realized right now.” He added, “We don’t think of the phone as a communication device, and why shouldn’t we? I think there’s evolution on the phone that we can do together.”
