Report: Apple Tops Japan’s Mobile Industry For The First Time

The Cupertino-based giant now holds another great mark across the Pacific: as according to a new report from Counterpoint Research, Apple topped Japan’s mobile industry for the first time with 15% market share in 2012. The company took 16% market share in the fourth quarter of 2012 and 15% for the full year of 2012 reaching the no. 1 spot for the first time in annual terms.

Counting on Apple rivals, Samsung and LG also increased its market share in the country in fourth quarter of 2012 and have exceeded the combined share by 50% for the first time in Japan’s history. On the other side, Chinese brands like Huawei saw sales jumps by three folds in a short period of time, while Samsung, LG, HTC had a head start compared to Japanese brands.
