Summer is the prime season for home hunting in Southern California. Whether you’re searching for condos for sale Santa Monica or single-family homes in Redondo Beach, it’s virtually guaranteed to be an exciting experience. When you’re ready to unwind after a productive day and get to know your new neck of the woods, these are five of the best outdoor concerts to catch in Los Angeles this summer.

KCRW Summer Nights

The KCRW Summer Nights concert series celebrates its 10th anniversary this summer, with free shows all across the L.A. area, including at the Santa Monica Pier, in downtown Long Beach, and at the California African American Museum in Exposition Park. Although most of the artists involved fall under the indie rock umbrella, the all-ages series caters to a wide variety of music tastes with shows by artists such as Girlpool, Rostam, Helado Negro and Methyl Ethel.

Jazz at LACMA

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been offering free jazz for more than 20 years. Its outdoor concert series, set amidst the jaw-dropping architecture of one of the country’s largest art museums, features shows on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Gilbert Castellanos, the Rickey Woodard Sextet, and Anne Walsh are just some of the artists scheduled to appear in 2019.

Is chamber music more your jam? How about Latin rhythms? In addition to its long-running jazz series, LACMA offers outdoor shows from a variety of other music genres all summer long as well.

Once Upon a Canyon Night

If you want to take in some live music while giving back to the community, this unique summer music series may be just the ticket. Created by the Los Angeles nonprofit TreePeople, tickets to each event support the maintenance and protection of Coldwater Canyon Park, a 45-acre certified wildlife habitat. The Lao Tizer Quartet and Grammy winner Darlene Koldenhoven are amongst the acts slated to perform amongst the trees at the S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre this summer alongside a robust roster of comedy and theatre ensembles.

Off the 405

Boasting appearances by Cate Le Bon, Lala Lala, and Ex Hex, the annual Off the 405 summer concert series at the Getty Center is arguably one of the hippest outdoor music lineups in Los Angeles this summer. Situated in the Museum Courtyard against a backdrop of dazzling architecture, these free shows are one of the best ways to take in a Southern California sunset, too.

Easy Sundays at The Waterfront

If you’re looking to chill out after a morning spent viewing Venice Beach real estate, the Easy Sundays concert series at The Waterfront in Venice offers a revolving slate of relaxed vibes — think jazz, classic hip-hop, and old school reggae — every Sunday afternoon. Plus, you can plot your next house-hunting move over a bevy of delicious food and drink specials. Whether you’re new to Los Angeles or simply new to your block, an outdoor concert is a sensational way to enjoy summer in Southern California. Pack a blanket, a full picnic spread, or just a bottle of your favorite wine — venue permitting, of course — and head outside to hear some great music tonight.
