Although Nokia’s yesterday four back-to-back news: 10,000 jobs cut plan, selling of Vertu to EQT, acquisition of assets of imaging company Scalado and debuting Nokia Reaction Bluetooth Headset turns huge flurry in the industry, another big news coming straight from company’s CFO Timo Ihamuotila that Nokia is preparing to sell off its patents portfolio.
The company currently owe 30,000 patents and around 10,000 patented innovations as well as its R&D team creates an average 1,000 patentable innovations annually. This can’t be shocking as company being hit by a lot of mess recently. “We will sell patents at the right price,” Mr. Ihamuotila said during a conference call following the company’s second-quarter profit warning and restructuring announcement.
