Mexican Billionaire Carlos Slim Coming Up With New Online TV Network ‘Ora.tv’

Mexican telecoms billionaire Carlos Slim who is known by the name of “telecom king” is funding an online television network called as Ora.tv, which will be formally announced on Monday. Slim is rated by Forbes as one of the world’s richest man and made much of his fortune with America Movil.

Ora.tv — the word Ora translates to “now” in Spanish and Italian — is a new addition to the empire of Slim, which will feature Larry King, the former CNN interviewer, in a return to the interviewer’s chair. So far América Móvil, the largest wireless company in Latin America, will be the only firm financing the network. The amount of its investment is not being disclosed.

The network, to be announced on Monday, is the latest indication showing Mr. Slim’s interests in Internet broadcasting and in television-like content. It will have a slate of shows of varying lengths and will stream them via the Internet to computers, phones and television sets in the United States.
