Malaysia Eyeing On $9.8 Billion ICT Investments By 2020

The Sun Daily reports that the Malaysian government is expecting to generate about 31.2RMB (about $9.8 billion) from the public-private partnership investments from its Digital Malaysia initiative by 2020, the numbers were revealed by Badlisham Ghazalim, CEO, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).

There are total of eight projects running under Digital Malaysia initiative which will increase ICT sector contribution to country’s GNI to 17 percent. Ghazalim pointed out that one of the eight projects will turn the country into Asia’s hub for cross border e-commerce shipment, dubbed as the Asian e-Fulfilment Hub.

Ghazalim lastly added that “These thrusts include initiating more demand-focused activities to leverage on the supply, encouraging internet users to come up with products or services while they consume from digital technologies, and increase development of local talent in key industries.”
