With the next Olympics 2012 around the corner, the organizers restrict the volunteers for the use of social media during the games. The London Olympic 2012 is going to held from July 27 till August 12. Organizers are in the process to recruit around 70,000 volunteers for the games.

The game committee announced on Friday that volunteers are not allowed to post locations, details, about their roles, details about athletes or other VIPs online through the social medium websites like Facebook and Twitter. Britain government is even providing up the 13,500 troops to protect the game – doubled in figures since the organizers mention that it is very much essential.

“As is standard in most organizations, we have provided some practical guidelines to give basic advice on interacting in a social media environment with the aim of protecting the interests of our workforce and operation”. A spokesman told Reuters, “We understand that many of our Games Makers will want to use social media to share their exciting experiences at London 2012 with their friends and family,”

The same even happens during the last Olympics in 2008, when China bans the use of social networking website Facebook and Twitter during the game.
