According to Counterpoint Research (via The Yonhap News Agency), the South-Korea’s LG Electronic bagged second spot in the US handset market last month for the first time with LG recorded a share of 13 percent in December in the United States, beating Apple with 12 percent although interestingly Samsung retain the number 1 spot.
Last week only LG’s flagship Optimus G passed one million sales but if we go back quite in some time until the third-quarter of 2011, the company has maintained the runner-up position but fell to third place after Apple’s iPhone 4S hit this market. “Optimus G and our other latest smartphones gained popularity in the North American market,” an official from LG Electronics said.
