The only manufacturer of organic light emitting diode (OLED) panels, LG said to be investing $657 million in the OLED industry. The company in a statement Monday said that it would invest 706 billion won ($656.7 million) in expanding its OLED panel product range with offering the mass production which is due to being in the first half of 2014.
According to a spokesperson, LG Display’s Paju plant, located in the South Korea, will host the new product range manufacturing which will include mother glasses that are large enough to cater for OLED panels present in 55-inch television screens. The investment indicates clearly that the company not at all leaving any stone unturned in order to compete with rivals.
