IDC: Apple’s iOS Leads Vietnam Market At 78 Percent In Q2

A latest study from IDC revealed that Vietnam tablet market seen an astounding growth of 110% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) in second quarter. The demand for Apple’s latest instalment of new iPad as well fall in price of iPad 2 contributed towards company’s 170 percent quarter-on-quarter rise.  Talking about Vietnam’s tablet shipment, the market was led by iOS in second quarter at 78 percent, followed by Android 21 percent while 1 percent for OSes.

“While Android vendors have the competitive edge in the local smartphone market, they are unable to compete with Apple in tablet segment as iPads are widely perceived to be in a league of their own” said Võ Lê Tâm Thanh, Senior Market Analyst, Client Devices Research at IDC Vietnam. He continued, “Apple has grown from strength to strength, as it dominates with an all-time high of 78% of the Q2 tablet market. Its reputation as a premium device continues to expand its loyal following in Vietnam’s brand-conscious consumer market.”
