According to the Financial Times, the Sony’s board chairman Howard Stringer will be retiring in June in the next shareholder meeting. Stringer which stepped down from President role back in January 2012 and then to just a chairman a month later.
“Howard’s achievements as CEO of Sony are innumerable; from breaking down silos and driving ‘Sony United,’ to fundamentally realigning the focus of Sony’s product development,” Hirai said in a statement.
“A new world is opening up for me,” Stringer said, according to a transcript provided by Jim Kennedy, a spokesman for the company. “That will allow me to move forward with new opportunities I’ve been presented with lately.”
