Changing job can be nerve wracking. No matter whether you are sticking with the same industry or job title, or moving into something completely new, the nerves remain the same and often this can be the difference between getting the job or losing it at the first hurdle. One of the biggest things you can do at first is to get confident for the interview, so that you know that you can smash it. Which is why I wanted to share with you four ways you can totally rock the interview to help you get the job you have wanted.

Research in advance

One of the first things you can do to feel confident about an interview is to research in advance about the company and the industry. Knowing your stuff will help you to feel confident when you are faced with tough interview questions. This is when taking some time to peruse the company website, find out about when they get started and their company ethics and even look at some of the popular things for sale, if it is that type of company, or the services they offer. Not only does this fill you with confidence but it can also cement how you feel about the job itself.

Prepare for common interview questions

The next thing you can do is to search out the most common interview questions. Print them out and then look at how you might answer them. Of course, not all interviewers will ask these exact questions, but there may be variations in the interview process, and knowing how you might tackle things like why you want to leave your current job or your own personal experience helps you to answer confidently with all the relevant information you want to share. Another step would be to ask a friend or family member to ask you some questions in an interview style, so you can practice actually speaking and answering.

Dress the part

First impressions count for a lot, so you need to ensure that you are dressing the part when it comes to the interview. Take time to look after your appearance. If you are a male think about grooming such as hair or beards, for women make sure you look and feel presentable. You also want to think about the choice of clothes. Men should wear smart clothes like a suit. Perhaps even some trousers like the Dickies 874 a shirt and jumper if you feel a more casual approach would work. Women should also consider a suit ensemble, or trousers/skirt and shirt combination. Keep things simple, white shirt and plain colours will always look more finished and clean cut.

Feel positive

Finally, consider your thought process and approach to the interview. You want to make sure that you feel positive with your appearance, your knowledge, and your outlook to working and life in general. A positive outlook can be hard to overcome, but you need to ensure that you have no negative thoughts, as this sort of thinking can be portrayed across during the interview.

I hope these tips help you rock your next interview.
