Bloomberg citing people with knowledge of the hire reported that the social giant has hired Apple’s original iPhone team member, Richard Williamson. Williamson will join Facebook in the past couple of week to be a manager. At Apple, Williamson worked as an engineer which was assigned by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs to build iPhone software.
He was put in-charge to replace rivals Google’s mapping service for the iPhone and iPad. While he was later charged for misguided directions and inaccurate landmark locations back in last November, the time he got fired away from Apple as part of a management shakeup. Besides Williamson, other ex-Apple employees brought in includes Greg Novick, a former iPhone manager; Mike Matas and Kimon Tsinteris, software designers and software engineers Scott Goodson, Tim Omernick and Chris Tremblay.
