Bloomberg is reporting that Microsoft reportedly selling its MediaRoom IPTV unit to Ericsson. Both the companies are in talk over the potential buyout while it’s more favorable to see that the transaction could be announced in coming weeks, said the publication unnamed source.

The move will certainly help Ericsson to step up its emphasis on both on software and services while the Microsoft intends more to focus on delivering TV through its Xbox game console, so in short it would going to be a win-win situation for both the giants.

Purchasing the unit will allow Ericsson to have a voice, broadband and TV offering which will allow them to compete with cable companies and over-the-top services, which are getting popular for broadband users these days. Well, we keep an eye over the matter and will update accordingly, till then stay tuned with us.
