eMarketer: Facebook Tops The Social Network Chart, Followed By Google+, YouTube

According to the latest figures from eMarketer GlobalWebIndex’s “Stream Social: Quarterly Social Platforms Update,” the social giant Facebook without a doubt remained stand at the no. 1 social network position worldwide. There are more than half of internet users logging on the site at least once a month in first quarter 2013, as per the report, while eMarketer also believe that Facebook worldwide penetration expected to reach 60% of internet users this year.

After Facebook, Google+ makes its place with 26% of active users penetrated during first quarter of 2013. Then, comes Google’s own YouTube with 25% followed by Twitter and Sina Weibo standing at no. 4 and no.5 respectively. LinkedIn and Pinterest each came in at less than 10% of global internet users.

In terms of usage, mobile phones and tablet plays an important role, thanks to the increasingly used activities over the devices. For instance, watching videos on Facebook now rose by 47% on both PCs and mobile, while nearly doubling on the tablet. Counting on region wise, Asia-Pacific saw highest gain.
