The EVUS, designed by the United States government in 2016, is an automated travel authorization which regulates the worthiness of Chinese citizens with a legal 10-year B2, B1 and B1/2 United States Visa for either business and leisure purposes. The technology was spearheaded by the U.S Border Protection (CBP) department to regulate and curb the increasing cases of illegal immigration into the country. As per the B1, B2 and B1/2 regulations, a traveler is only allowed to stay in the country for a specified timeframe of 6 months or less. According to the U.S Border protection, upon its approval, the EVUS visa authorization is often valid for two years, which gives the holder several travel-time within the stipulated period.

Eligible Chinese citizens, to qualify for the enrollment, must give correct detail of their passport and personal data, answer some security queries by filling out forms available in EVUS online application platform.  While for those who do not have a United States passports must first visit the nearest U.S Embassies in their states. Currently, as per the CBP Department, no charges are being imposed for EVUS application and enrolment. However, the CBP anticipates that a fee will be agreed and imposed on all EVUS registration. According to the CBP rules, all visitors to the country (whether hiding a visa or EVUS) must fully prove their tolerability to the country in the presence of a CBP officer immediately upon their arrival. Neither an EVUS nor a valid visa warranties admission into the country. The visitors must also ensure that they have both their Visa and EVUS application separate.

Immediately after arriving in the United States with the EVUS, Chinese travelers must present their original passports which they used in competing for the application. This is because EVUS platform is electronically interconnected to their original travel forms. In case a holder changes their original passports within the timeframe of EVUS validation, its potent for them to submit a new EVUS application. EVUS applicants and holders are permitted to stay in the country past its legitimacy timeframe so long as they enter the country before EVUS application period. Moreover, Chinese nationals with visas and not the B-Class forms aren’t needed to apply for an EVUS for them to visit the United States. Applicants after a successful enrollment can check their enrollment status at www.evus.org. There is no need for presenting hardcopy printouts of the forms because of the electronic verification availability. Currently, Brand USA has partnered with the CBP in communicating proper steps one might need regarding EVUS application. The CBP workers, together with the Brand USA, met at a Chinese International Travel Mart (CITM) to educate the Chinese nationals on what it takes to acquire an EVUS application. The steps have increased US-China nationals from 1 Million to 1.5 Million improving their relations in terms of business and education. With an increasing trade-wars between the United States and China, the system of application has expanded the ties between the two states distinctively.
