comScore: Samsung To Be The Top Handset Manufacturer With 25.7 Percent Market Share

According to latest release from the comScore reporting the latest key trends in the US mobile phone industry during the three month average period ending August 2012, surveying over 30,000 US mobile subscribers. It has been found that Samsung to be the top handset manufacturer overall with 25.7 percent market share while Google’s Android lead among smartphone platform accounting for 52.6 percent of smartphone subscribers, while Apple accounted for 34.3 percent.

Counting on mobile content usage, in August around 75.6 percent of US mobile subscribers used text messaging on their mobile devices (up by 0.8 percentage points) while downloaded applications accounts for 53.4 percent of subscribers (up 2.3 percentage points). Browser use up by 52 percent while accessing of social networking sites or blogs increased 1.6 percentage points to 38.3 percent of mobile subscribers. Game playing accounted for 34 percent while 28.3 percent accounted for listening music on their phones.
