Canalys: Android Dominates With 67.1% Market Share In 2017

According to the latest report published by Canalys, more than 1.5 billion smartphone are expected to be shipped around the world in 2017, with more than 1 billion having Android mobile operating system in it. The research firm claims that “virtually all” devices shipped to North America and Western Europe will be smartphone while in Greater China, the figure should be around 95 percent.

Canalys further predicts that Android will be the main soul towards this market shift and will even estimates that Android-powered smartphones shipped will increase to more than 1 billion in 2017; double the 470 million counts shipped this year.

For Apple’s smartphone, the market share will drastically fall from current 19.5 percent to 14.1 percent in 2017 as Android will hold 67.1 percent of global shipments market share. While for Microsoft, it would be just an increase from current 2.4 percent to 12.7 percent by 2017, but for BlackBerry it would be a no change condition between now and 2017.
