Brazil Crosses The 80 Million Internet User Milestone

The total number of people having an internet access in Brazil, then whether it would be in homes, workplaces, schools, internet cafes and other places, reached 82.4 million in the first quarter of 2012, the research firm IBOPE announced. The growth was 3% on 79.9 million the previous quarter and 5% of the 78.2 million the first quarter of 2011.

The number of active users at home or at work in April 2012 was 48.9 million, which represented a decrease of 1.7% compared with March and 14% increase over the 42.8 million April 2011. The number of active users in homes in April 2012 was 40 million, which corresponded to a decrease of 2.2% over the previous month and an accumulated growth of 14.2% over April 2011.

In comparison with the previous month, in April there was a proportional increase of the audience of hotel sites (3.2%), food (5.5%), events (14.2%) and finance news multicategorias (4.3 %) and lifestyle (8.2%).
