Bloomberg citing two people familiar with the plans reported that the Cupertino-based is negotiating to start carrying Time Warner’s HBO Go application on its Apple TV by mid-2013, means people who are subscribed for cable and satellite services who pay for HBO will be able to watch over 600 hours of films and television shows on Apple TV.
Apple has sold over 2 million set-top boxes in the first quarter of 2013, ended December while over the two prior fiscal years Apple sold more than 7.8 million. “This is an area of intense interest for us,” Apple’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said in response to a question about a television during the company’s first-quarter earnings call earlier this month. “I tend to believe that there’s a lot we can contribute in this space. And so we continue to pull the string and see where it leads us.”
