Anonymous Tops Time 100 Public Poll, But Did The Hacker Group Did It Themselves, Says Mashable

This is interesting but note worthy as the public poll by Time Magazine on the most influential person in 2012 has come up with an unexpected winner – sharing the rank with you – this time first position goes to hacker group Anonymous – yes I just put it down Anonymous – isn’t strange but interesting. The group beats sportsperson, politicians and many others in the biggies list.

Mashable reports that Anonymous was gathering votes at a rate of around 14,000 an hour, taking it from 40,000 on midday Thursday to 380,000 by midday Friday, something that a supporter of Gujarati Chief Minister Narendra Modi (who eventually placed third) saw as unlikely.  Voting for Time‘s 100 most influential people of the year ends at midnight. The final list will be announced April 17, alongside the poll winner. We’ll update you more on this as soon as we get further information and confirmation about it.
