Android Virus Name ‘MMarketPay.A’ Found On 100,000 Smartphones And In 9 App Stores In China

A new mobile virus which was identified by mobile security firm TrustGo (via The Next Web) has revealed that the virus, dubbed as “MMarketPay.A” being found in 100,000 of Android-based phones in China and even nine app stores feel the presence in country. Trustgo has found that the virus already infected content in the following app stores: nDuoa, GFan, AppChina, LIQU, ANFONE, Soft.3g.cn, TalkPhone, 159.com and AZ4SD.

Here is how the virus works, explains Trustgo in its blog post:

Customers login at M-Market website (http://mm.10086.cn/). No login required if customer use If you are using CMWAP as Access Point.

M-Market will send a verification code to you via SMS if customer purchased paid apps or contents.

Customers receive the verification code and input it to M-Market for verification

Once the verification completed, the market will download apps automatically. China Mobile will add this order in customers’ phone bill.

MMarketPay.A can place orders via M-Market payment system automatically:

Change the APN to CMWAP, so that it can login MMarket automatically.
