Yahoo Shutting Number Of Its Services, Including SMS Alerts, Mail Older Version, J2ME Apps

Yahoo announced that it will end its some of services so as to keep a pace for its upcoming services. The company says as part of its ongoing effort, it has taken this hard but necessary step and will focus its energy on building beautiful production for its users. The services, the company ending includes:

  • Upcoming: The Company will shut the service down on April 30, 2013. If you have uploaded event on the site, Yahoo asked users to learn on how to download your information although it added that the Upcoming API will also be not supported by Yahoo anymore, effective April 30, 2013.
  • Yahoo! Deals: Yahoo Deals also be going dead by April 30, 2013.
  • Yahoo! SMS Alerts: The same goes for Yahoo SMS Alerts, the company will be shutting the service on April 30, 2013.
  • Yahoo! Kids: Formerly known as Yahooligans, the service will be off on April 30, 2013.
  • Yahoo! Mail and Messenger feature phone (J2ME) apps: The Yahoo Mail and Messenger apps for feature phones (J2ME) will be going away on April 30, 2013.
  • Older versions of Yahoo! Mail: Beginning the week of June 3, 2013, older versions of Yahoo! Mail (including Yahoo! Mail Classic) will no longer be available. The company ask all those who are using the older versions of Yahoo Mail can switch to new Yahoo! Mail.
