Another foreign service saying good bye from China as Yahoo China has announced that it will be shutting down its Chinese music service effective from January 20, 2013 over an adjustment of its product strategy. The closure shows itself a clear sign that how difficult it would be for foreign internet companies to make a stand in Chinese market, although Yahoo having a long run partnership with local e-commerce giant Alibaba.
A statement posted on the Yahoo China’s music search portal reads:
“Thank you all for your continued support of Yahoo’s products. As part of an adjustment to our product strategy, we have decided to stop providing the Yahoo [China] Music service starting January 20, 2013.” (translated version)
