Time Warner Android App Finally Got Its Wings

We reported that Time Warner Cable had been working on its Android tablet app for streaming live videos from quite some time and today the company has provided an update on its progress. The company promises the app will be out in next few weeks but the major restrained that is still pulling it out is the app will work only in homes and only compatible with Android 4.0. The wait is over now as the update app is available in the Google Play, so you won’t be streaming any live TV while traveling. But keep a note here, Android Police reports that the app doesn’t work on rooted devices. So make sure you check even double check before you plans to use it.

This update seems kind of short sighted and not very customer friendly. Of the 3% of Androids running Ice Cream Sandwich, how many of those are actually Time Warner subscribers? How many even live in a Time Warner area? Programming for the multitudes of Android devices may not be simple, but I can think of at least one TV provider that has done it. I have the free DISH Remote Access app which allows me to connect to my Hopper DVR from almost anywhere. I was just showing one of my coworkers at DISH how I stream live TV to my Android EVO. I don’t think the EVO will every get Ice Cream Sandwich, and the app still works incredibly. If Time Warner really wanted to offer a great app they would have one that works on the majority of devices without that home network restriction.

Everything is completely “True” but this is what on board from Time Warner Cable.
