Taiwan Mobile Join Hands With Foxconn To Unveil Low-Cost Android Smartphone A5

According to a report on China Times, the Taiwan Mobile company has joined hands together with Foxconn to releasing a low-cost self-branded smartphone dubbed as A5 while interestingly this is the first time when Foxconn, Apple’s main manufacturer has tie up with local operator which carries the operator’s own brand, reported Focus Taiwan.

China Time reports says that the A5 phone will feature a 4.3-inch display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera and will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will come at a cost of NT$3,990 (US$134) for a contract-free model and will go on sale from mid-July.

Along with this, Taiwan Mobile has also teamed up with Chinese mobile phone manufacturer ZTE to launch three other more self-branded phones with having the screen sizes of 3.5-, 4- and 5-inches.

Taiwan Mobile co-president, Cliff Lai said during the press conference that company’s own-brand phones will account for over 20 percent of its total smartphone purchase amount this year. Plus the company plans further to order 1.8 million more smartphones this year.
