Study: Android Malware Spread More By Q4 2012

A new study by Trend Micro revealed that Android malware pandemic will hit by Q4 2012. According to this new study, the past quarter has seen the double increase in malicious numbers from 10,000 to 20,000 in just one month, with hundreds of thousands of devices were infected after malware moving to the official Google Play marketplace. In the first three months of the year the team identified 5,000 malicious applications designed to infect Android phones. Google Play, was breached, with 17 malicious apps downloaded over 700,000 times before they were spotted and removed from the site. The most common type of malicious app – accounts for 30 per cent of all those Trend Micro encountered.
