Sony, Olympus Receives All Permissions For Its Medical Business, Debuts On April 16

Announced first back in September 2012 that Sony will be investing in Olympus business finally comes true today as Sony announced that the company gets all required approval for the new 50 million yen ($535,000) medical imaging business with Olympus and it will debut on April 16. The overall deal when decided was consider on terms that Sony will take 11 percent share in the camera maker for 50 billion yen (about $642 million).

“Olympus and Sony continue to work together with the goal of creating ground-breaking products and solutions by combining their respective technologies and know-how through the medical business venture,” the announcement made today read. This new venture will develop new medical equipments and will send an executive to join its board of directors.
