Although we are just hours away from Samsung’s second quarter results (estimation), a new report released by Juniper Research revealed that the South-Korean giant shipped an estimated 52.1 million smartphones in the second quarter of 2012, but what’s interesting is that the number is just over double the number shipped by its rival Apple, which shipped 26 million. Samsung’s recent announced Galaxy S III playing a key role, having achieved sales of 10 million in June.

In the separate report released by Strategic Analytic, it revealed that Samsung remains the most popular TV brand in the US and Western European markets, ahead of Sony, LG, Phillips, Panasonic and Vizio. Consumers in the US and Europe show that more than 20 percent of households report ownership of Samsung TV, followed by Sony 14 percent, LG 11 percent and Phillips 9 percent. Samsung is currently the most preferred TV brand for those consumers considering a future TV purchase.
