In an interview with CNET, Senior VP Mike Abary, who heads up Samsung’s US PC and tablet businesses confirmed that Samsung decided not to release Windows RT tablets in the US after doubts from retail partners. Abary told the publication that the company had not able to managed “very clear positioning” of Windows RT still in the marketplace when related to Windows 8.
“When we added those two things up, the investments necessary to educate the consumer on the difference between RT and Windows 8, plus the modest feedback that we got regarding how successful could this be at retail from our retail partners, we decided maybe we ought to wait,” he told CNET. “With Samsung also not able to bring Windows RT tablet in the price range it is hoping for.”
